HighMoon's Environmental Cartoon Exhibition in Kuala Lumpur, March 2010


High Moon is a professional Manga artist from Japan, specialising in environmental cartoons.
He is also known as scientist Prof Hiroshi Takatsuki, professor of Ishikawa Prefectural University and professor emeritus of Kyoto University Environmental Preservation Centre

Leading figure in waste management research in Japan. His cartoons are widely used for environmental education. In addition to many academic credentials, he was awarded a special prize from the International Solid Waste Association for his cartoon works.


Thanks to all those who were involved, all the programmes were completed successfully.

Thanks to High Moon / Prof Takatsuki and members of JEE, who came all the way from Japan. Thanks to Japan Cartoonists Association for the loan of cartoon panels. The High Moon cartoon workshops at JUSCO and also at Sekolah Alam Shah yielded many excellent works with passion, the JEE booth with reused paper origami, reused art creation, etc at JUSCO was always crowded with people.
Thanks to the teachers at Sekolah Menengah Alam Shah, Putrajaya for the organisation and their hospitality.

Thanks to JICA and JOCV members for their support and activities. Their drama and quiz sessions were a success with more than 100 participants altogether. Their help and participation in various events were very much appreciated.

Thanks to UKM "Go green" student group, who put up a participatory "reuse" fashion design and show, which livened up the venue.

Thanks to H.E. Mr Horie, ambassador of Japan, for his presence at the opening ceremony, and his inspiring speech. We acknowledge with thanks that the Japan Embassy provided many items for the events, such as origami and crayons. Thank you to other distinguished guests who came to the exhibition and events.

Thanks to LESTARI staffs for doing the groundwork. Without their hard work, the programmes could not have been carried out.

Thanks to the Malaysian Sony group and Japan Foundation for their generous funding. Not only funding, but also Sony presented a consise display on 3R efforts at their factories which was highly praised. We appreciated the help by the officers of Japan Foundation at the High Moon workshop etc.
